Teens are often in the headlines, but it's usually for the wrong reasons, like Lindsay Lohan's latest relapse or Miley Cyrus' sexy pictures. The media unfortunately focuses so much on the sensational that it is rare to hear positive stories about famous teens. We have to look for other sources of inspiration for the teenagers in our lives.
Today for giveaway I have 4 titles of the latest Chicken Soup for the Soul title: Extraordinary Teens: Personal Stories and Advice from Today's Most Inspiring Youth
. Filled with dozens of inspirational stories from famous teens, this would be a great gift to tuck into your first care package for your newly departed college kid. A few pages of Extraordinary Teens every night would be a great motivator to keep them focused on their schoolwork and their goals.
The teens featured represent achievers in every field. The actress Brenda Song from Zach and Cody has a piece, but there is also filmmaker and activist David Burnstein, two-time Olympic winner and cancer survivor Eric Babbitt and philanthropist Kendall Ciesemier who raised over $700,000 for African kids affected by AIDS.
Reading all of their achievements and hearing their advice made me feel like I too, could do anything I set my mind to. Entrepreneur Chauncey Cymone Holloman's words are still echoing in my mind as I write, spurring me on to act, "We are the ones that we have been looking for."
